SUBJECT ASSOCIATION ACTIVITY
As part of our B. Ed curriculum we conducted a subject association programme which starts from 26 May 2021.The three day programme was conducted online.
All the 5 departments conducted programmes and all students participated. It was a great experience to all.

Our Physical Science department conducted "Mystery of Science" programme which includes quiz, various experiments, facts...
In this programme I have presented some interesting facts in chemistry by showing different pictures related to it.
Interesting facts in chemistry
Serendipity or happy accidents
1.Gun powder discovery
In 9 th century AD in china some alchemist try to prepare a medicine for elixir of life. They mixed food preservatives such as salt peter, sulphur, and charcoal and the mixture is heated. It explodes. They accidently discovered gun powder.
2.Saccharin
In 1879 a Russian chemist Constantin Fahlberg in Ira Ramsens laboratory done experiments in Coal tar. once he forget to wash hands and eat bread. It tastes more sweetness, he drink water to check it also turns sweeter.
Then he finds that atlast he mixes some chemicals in a beaker and this causes sweetness. This is beacuse of formation of o-benzoic sulfimide. They named it as Saccharine and used as an artificial Sweetner.

9.If you place ripe banana near green tomato, the tomato will ripe. This is beacuse ripe banana release ethylene gas and this gas causes ripening.
10.Lycurgus cup- 4 th century Roman glass cage cup, made with tiny proportions of Gold and silver nanoparticles. It shows Red colour in transmitted light and green in reflected light.
These are the ten interesting facts of chemistry I have presented.
